Enterprise Account Executive

We are seeking a clever, resourceful, and thoughtful account executive to help with our outbound sales efforts.

First, a bit of background...

We’re a VC-funded startup, founded in 2011 by former Google engineers with a deep background in technical operations. Our founder Steve Newman (one of the creators of Google Docs) was frustrated by the sheer number of tools required to get his job done managing infrastructure at Google (17 different tools at one point!). Scalyr was created to solve that problem.

Over the past few years, our small team has developed a powerful tool for DevOps teams. It’s lightning-fast, feature-rich, and our customers - primarily engineers - love it (and pay for it.) We’ve been growing at a rapid clip, and we want that growth to continue.

Your role & goal

Finding new customers for Scalyr is the name of the game. Those we have love us, and if given enough time, we're confident the whole tech world would find us, try us, and love us too. But we're impatient, so we're building a sales team to grow that customer base now. This is an opportunity to be one of the early core members of that sales team.

We're looking for someone who's a nerd at heart and genuinely enjoys learning and talking about new technologies. Introducing Scalyr to engineers will be your number one goal; outreach, tradeshows, and working with inbound leads will be just a few of the tools you'll use to grow the business.

More specifically, you should

  • Have 8+ years of experience in technology sales.
  • Know how to build a pipeline, manage a territory, and understand the complexities of selling to engineers.
  • Be comfortable selling to the entire engineering organization; CTOs to junior engineers.
  • Have a continuous track record of exceeding sales goals.
  • Have a strong understanding of the enterprise sales cycle and how to manage deals through completion.
  • Be entrepreneurial. Started your own business? Know how to fail fast and learn? Love learning new things everyday? Great!

Your teammates

You’ll be working directly with Casey Clark (our Head of Sales), but we're a small group (~15), so you'll be alongside the entire team.

We’re a small, close-knit group. We’re highly technical and cerebral. We listen to each other, value both affirming and dissenting opinions, have healthy debates (with no bruised egos), and love talking about our product, engineering, and everything else (from world politics to TV to science fiction novels.) We range in age from 20s to 50s.
