Scalyr’s mission is to build the best tool for engineers to understand their operational systems. Our CEO, Steve Newman, cofounded Writely (aka Google Docs). Frustrated by the fact that visibility tools - even Google’s in-house tools - weren’t keeping up, he started Scalyr to build a better solution. It’s lightning fast, feature-rich and customers love it. The opportunity in front of us is huge and we are still in the very early days. This is going to be one of those companies where people will look back and say “I wish I’d been there when…” well, this is “when”.
Your opportunity
You'll be on our core Engineering team and you'll help manage our growing infrastructure and tools. You'll be helping to monitor and troubleshoot a huge distributed system responsible for ingesting TBs of logs per day while processing most searches in less than a second. You'll also be helping design, build, and extend the tools we use to manage our fleet of servers. To top it all off, your feedback on the product itself will be invaluable to the team -- we are building a product for DevOps after all.
Your skills
- 2+ years of experience in DevOps, helping run large pieces of infrastructure.
- Strong scripting experience, preferably in Python
- Experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Chef, and Puppet
- Experience with AWS and related services
- Experience scaling infrastructure (preferred, but not required)
